Players must provide their own equipment

(SLA does have limited stock of equipment for sale and for rent to qualifying players; see the Equipment pages on the menu to the left for details) 



Beginning January 1, 2022, due to changes made by USA Lacrosse in the governing rules for the sport, all shoulder pads and goalie chest protectors must be designed for lacrosse and meet NOCSAE standard ND200.  Pads must contain the NOCSAE logo and SEI certification mark on both the packaging and the product to be legal for play. Please see the USA Lacrosse website on this topic for more information. 

BOYS EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS (Items are mandatory to practice or play):
    1.   Lacrosse Helmet - No hockey helmets
    2.   Lacrosse Shoulder Pads - No hockey pads; shoulder pads must be certified (see note above) 
    3.   Lacrosse Arm Pads - SLA recommends arm pads that cover much the arm, not just the elbow
    4.   Lacrosse gloves
    5.   Protective cup
    6.   Mouthguard - Cannot be clear or white in color
    7.   Cleats - Optional, esp at younger age groups, but recommended.  Plastic or rubber sole with cleats 1/2" or less in length.  Lacrosse, football, or soccer cleats. No baseball cleats, or football/rugby cleats with screw-in studs
    8.   Lacrosse Stick - regular 42" stick to start (cut down as req'd); beginners should NOT start w/defenseman stick (72")
    9.   Lacrosse rib pads (optional)
    10. SLA uniform (see boys program page for details)

Goalie Equipment - players must posess all the equipment listed above plus
    1.  Throat Protecter is required (SLA can loan)
    2.  Goalie Chest Pad (SLA can loan)
    3.  Goalie Stick (SLA can loan)
    4.  Shin Pads - Optional (soccer type only)

GIRLS REQUIRED EQUIPMENT (Items are mandatory to practice or play):

    1. Girl's or women's lacrosse stick

    2. Properly fitted mouth guard

    3. U.S. Lacrosse Approved Eyewear (this includes headgear with integrated eyewear)

    4. Girl's or women's lacrosse gloves (not mandatory)

    5. Stafford Lacrosse Association Uniform (game days)

GOALIE EQUIPMENT (Athletes must possess all the equipment listed above plus):

    1. Throat Protector is required (SLA can loan)

    2. Goalie Chest Pad (SLA can loan)

    3. Goalie Stick (SLA can loan)

    4. Shin Pads - Optional for G7/8.  Required for all other divisions.
