Welcome to SLA′s home on the web!

Welcome to the official home of Stafford Lacrosse Association (SLA). SLA is a community based program providing lacrosse opportunities to the youth of Stafford County.  In conjunction with the Stafford County Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities (PRCF) we are the official provider of recreational lacrosse in Stafford County.

SLA is a non-profit organization that is committed to the continued growth and expansion of lacrosse in the Stafford County and Quantico areas. SLA is also a member of the Northern Virginia Youth Lacrosse League (NVYLL).

SLA provides programs for boys and girls at all skill levels, from developmental to competitive play.  Players from beginner to experienced are assessed and placed on a team of peers.  The primary lacrosse season starts in February and ends in early June.  SLA also offers additional programs and clinics at other times of the year during the fall and winter.

Uniform Distribution Event Scheduled

Spring 2020 Uniform Distribution Announcement

Stafford Lacrosse Association will hold a uniform distribution event on Saturday, May 30th, 2020 at the new VDOT Commuter Lot on Courthouse Road (at the corner of Old Courthouse Road) from 10:30 am - 12:00 pm.  SLA volunteers will set up in the southwest corner near or at the commuter bus pickup area.  This is the ‘back’ corner nearest to I-95 and the new Courthouse Road overpass; look for the SLA pop-up tent.  Please park in a designated spot and walk up to the bus ramp/SLA setup...please do not attempt a drive through pick up.

For awareness, we have received 99% of our orders through last Friday and want to get them to you. For orders not received by Friday, May 29th, SLA Members will be notified and advised not to attend.  SLA will make arrangements when the final items are received; this will affect less than 10 orders.

This event will be held outdoors and in accordance with the Governor’s “Forward Virginia” Phase One re-opening plan.  We will follow the guidelines associated with outdoor events.  As such, please ensure you follow social distancing guidelines while waiting to retrieve your child’s uniform, and allow our volunteers the opportunity to maintain their safety while helping you.

We will post signage to the greatest extent possible to help guide you.  We will distribute uniforms by program (boys or girls) and age group (e.g. 6U, 8U, 10U, 12U, 14U, GK2, G34, G56, G78) in order to keep things moving. Issues or questions regarding uniforms should be addressed to the appropriate program commissioner after talking with the volunteer at the table.

The follow schedules will help us limit the number of people waiting for uniforms:

10:30-10:50:  Boys 6U/8U

10:50-11:10:  Boys 10U

11:10-11:30:  Boys 12U (Local Rec & NVYLL)

11:30-11:50:  Boys 14U (Local Rec & NVYLL)

10:30-11:00: Girls K2

11:00-11:30: Girls 3/4 & 5/6

11:30-12:00: Girls 7/8

If you cannot attend during the schedule window, you may attend when you are able.

Coaches are requested to assist in distributing uniforms for their teams/age groups. Coaches will also need to return at this event any/all equipment that was issued to them or that they currently possess.

Any player that rented equipment from SLA or is in receipt of equipment through a financial aid program will need to return that equipment at this event as well, even if you are not picking up a uniform.

This is the ONLY distribution event we will have this spring, so please try to be present or make arrangements with a neighbor or classmate to have your uniform picked up.  If having someone else pick up your child’s uniform, please send an email to us at for verification of your intent.  If you are unable to attend or leverage a friend, you will need to make other arrangements with the program commissioner to obtain your uniform.  SLA will not mail uniforms except in the case of members that moved from the area prior to this event and are unable to attend.  Members that are local should make arrangements.

Thank you all, we look forward to getting back to normal and being able to provide rec lacrosse opportunities to you in the near future.

Please reach out with questions.

Thank you for your patience and understanding during these truly unique times.

You SLA Board

Spring 2020 Refund Policy (Final)

SLA Members

The SLA Board has set the refund policy in the wake of the Spring 2020 season cancellation.  After completing our review, we have determined the need for an administrative fee of $12.00 per player registration.

There is nothing for you to do at this time; we wil issue refunds to all paid players.

  • Local Recreation players requesting a refund through April 15th will receive $58 in return ($70 registration fee minus $12 to partially cover SLA expenses)

  • NVYLL players requesting a refund through April 15th will receive $108 in return ($120 registration fee minus $12 to partially cover SLA expenses)

  • Please note for those families that had more than one child registered, the admin fee remains the same ($12) despite the lower registration fees ($20 less than above) for 2nd and 3rd registered children; we have based the fee structure on a per player basis.

  • Players the paid a late fee will have that fee returned to them in the refund.

As a reminder, Stafford Lacrosse Association is a 100% volunteer non-profit organization, which does not profit from fees received or retained.  The SLA Board strives to maintain a solid funding base to provide lacrosse programs on an annual basis and have the funds available to cover the required expenses.  If you have specific questions about the refund policy or the Board’s actions, please reach out to , and we will address your concerns.

Thank you for your patience during the current circumstances.

Spring Season Cancelled

The SLA Board met this evening to review the current status of state and local restrictions surrounding COVID-19.  The state's stay-at-home order remains in effect until June 10 and the governor has recently extended the closure of non-essential businesses until May 8th.  Stafford County's facilities remain closed.

We held out hope that we'd be able to run at least a shortened lacrosse season this spring, but at this time it no longer looks as if that is feasible.  Therefore, the SLA BOARD HAS DECIDED ON A FULL CANCELLATION OF THE 2020 SPRING SEASON.  We will now begin issuing refunds for all registered and paid players for the spring season, and for those that have not already requested and been issued a refund.  Refunds will be in accordance with the previously announced refund policy and will be a refund of the spring registration fee paid minus a $12/player administrative fee to allow SLA to cover expenses incurred this season.  There is nothing for you to do at this time; we will issue refunds to all players.  If you do not see your refund by May 15th, please reach out to the Board at the below email address.

Going forward, we will close out this spring and begin to look toward the future and the next time we'll be able to provide lacrosse opportunities for the youth of Stafford County.

If you have any feedback or suggestions, please do not hesitate to reach out to the Board at stafford.lacrosse@gmail.com.  We look forward to the time when we can all get back to normal and have lacrosse again.

Stay Safe,

Your SLA Board
